Speech Therapy

Following a Speech-Language evaluation, a case conference committee will determine special education eligibility for speech-language services. Speech-Language therapy may be provided in direct small group therapy sessions or integrated within the preschool setting.

The greatest window of opportunity for speech articulation development is prior to the age of 6. Therefore, it is critical to provide speech and language therapy in the preschool years.

The benefits of Speech-Language therapy include increased vocabulary skills, increased language opportunities, improved articulation skills, and the motivation to communicate with peers. Children who are enrolled in Speech and Language therapy benefit from parent home programs that educate parents about communication needs of children prior to kindergarten.
